HSE AMED Medicals
HSE AMED Diving Medical (Commercial)
Service Description
HSE AMED Commercial Dive Medicals Under the Diving at Work Regulations 1997, all divers at work must have a valid certificate of fitness to dive issued by an Approved Medical Examiner of Divers (AMED). AMEDs are approved by HSE to conduct statutory medical examinations on divers to ensure they are fit to dive. There are medical conditions that may prevent divers from diving or restrict the type of diving that they do. Before you visit an AMED, you should read the HSE guidance 'Are you medically fit?'. Initial HSE Dive Medical Before your first dive medical should complete the medical questionnaire www.hse.gov.uk/diving/medical-questionnaire.pdf, sign the declaration and ask your GP to countersign it to confirm your medical history. Your GP may charge a fee for this, but they do not need to examine you. This document is essential for working as a professional diver. Further information on medical examinations and fitness standards for working divers is available on HSE’s website (www.hse.gov.uk/diving/index.htm). Once you have completed the declaration and it has been countersigned by your GP please get in touch so that the AMED can review the form. If there is a clear reason that a fully fit certificate is unlikely to be granted, we will discuss this with you before taking payment. Booking for initial HSE Dive Medicals will only be made once your completed declaration has been reviewed.
